Dosage Forms: Churna (powder), Svarasa (fresh juice), Kwatha (decoction/tea), Capsule, Tablet, Essential oil, Ark (distillate), Tincture, Drops, Syrup

Standard Dosage: 3-5 g dried leaf powder twice daily; 10-20 mL fresh juice daily; 2-3 cups Tulsi tea; 300-600 mg standardized extract capsule twice daily

Bioavailability: Eugenol (primary volatile) has good oral bioavailability (~45-55%) with Tmax of 30-60 minutes. Rosmarinic acid shows moderate bioavailability (~15-20%) limited by esterase hydrolysis and Phase II conjugation. Ursolic acid has very low oral bioavailability (<5%) due to extreme lipophilicity; phospholipid complexation (phytosome) improves this 3-5 fold. Ocimumosides A and B are moderately absorbed. Fresh juice provides highest bioavailability of water-soluble phenolics.

Optimal Timing: Morning on empty stomach for adaptogenic/Rasayana effect; after meals for digestive support; throughout the day as tea

Standardized Extract: Hydroethanolic extract standardized to >2.5% ursolic acid and >1% rosmarinic acid by HPLC; essential oil standardized to >50% eugenol by GC-FID

Shelf Life: Dried leaf: 12 months; Powder: 12-18 months; Essential oil: 24-36 months; Capsules/Tablets: 24-36 months; Fresh juice: 48 hours refrigerated; Tincture: 36-48 months
