Dosage forms and preparation

Dosage Forms: Swarasa (fresh juice), Avaleha (Kushmanda Avaleha/Rasayana), Churna (powder), Capsule, Ghrita (medicated ghee), Peya (thin gruel)

Standard Dosage: 20-40 mL fresh juice daily; 10-20 g Kushmanda Avaleha twice daily; 3-5 g powder; 5-10 g Ghrita

Bioavailability: Cucurbitane triterpenoids have moderate oral bioavailability enhanced by lipid co-administration. Vitamin C and B-complex vitamins are readily absorbed. Pectin and dietary fiber moderate glycemic response. Avaleha form (with ghee, sugar, honey) provides an optimized delivery matrix — ghee enhances lipophilic absorption, sugar acts as preservative, honey provides enzymatic activity. Alonusin and isovitexin show improved bioavailability in Ghrita formulation.

Optimal Timing: Avaleha: morning on empty stomach or twice daily for Rasayana (rejuvenation) therapy; juice: morning; Ghrita: before meals with warm water

Standardized Extract: Fruit extract standardized to minimum 0.5% cucurbitacins and 2% total polyphenols; Avaleha as per API specifications for Kushmanda Avaleha
