Dosage Forms: Churna (powder), Vati (pill/tablet), Capsule, Arka (distillate), Bhasma (processed form)
Standard Dosage: 125-500mg powder with meals; 250-500mg Hingu Vati; typically used as culinary spice (pinch to 1/4 tsp)
Bioavailability: Ferula assa-foetida resin contains volatile sulfur compounds (disulfides) and ferulic acid. Volatile components are rapidly absorbed via GI tract and partially through pulmonary route after oral administration. Ferulic acid shows ~30-40% oral bioavailability. Traditional practice of frying in ghee (Hingu Tadka) may improve palatability and modulate release. Low doses are key as higher doses can cause GI irritation.
