Bioavailability: Eucalyptus leaves contain polyphenols (tannins, ellagic acid, flavonoids) in addition to essential oil. Aqueous infusion extracts primarily polyphenols and residual volatile oil. Polyphenol bioavailability is moderate (10-20% for flavonoids, low for condensed tannins). Ellagitannins are metabolized by gut flora to urolithins. The residual essential oil (1,8-cineole) in dried leaf preparations contributes aroma and mild expectorant action but at lower levels than pure essential oil. Enhancement: standardized leaf extracts with defined polyphenol content in phytosome form.

Optimal Timing: Infusion/tea: 2-3 times daily between meals for respiratory conditions; capsule: after meals twice daily; poultice: as needed for local pain relief

Standardized Extract: Leaf extract standardized to NLT 10% total polyphenols (as gallic acid equivalent) and NLT 1% 1,8-cineole (residual essential oil). Extract ratio 5:1 to 8:1.
