## Recent safety updates

- Non-irritant on skin (confirmed in preclinical safety evaluation on rabbit skin). Well-tolerated for topical wound application. In vitro studies confirm antimicrobial activity without cytotoxicity to human fibroblasts at therapeutic concentrations.
- Not for internal consumption. Avoid on deep puncture wounds or severely infected wounds requiring surgical intervention. Large multicenter trials and pharmacokinetic studies of topical absorption are still needed for complete safety characterization. Formulation parameter standardization is an ongoing area of research.

[Sesamin](/glossary/compounds-q-t/#sesamin) and [sesamolin](/glossary/compounds-q-t/#sesamolin) from [sesame oil](/glossary/concepts-m-y/#tila-taila) add inherent anti-inflammatory activity. Oil vehicle maintains moist wound environment promoting granulation. Direct delivery of antimicrobials ([berberine](/glossary/compounds-a-c/#berberine), azadirachtin, [curcumin](/herb/curcumin/)) to wound bed.

**Optimal Timing:** After wound cleaning with [Triphala](/herb/triphala/) kwath, 1-2 times daily
