## Dosage forms and preparation

**Dosage Forms:** Churna (fine powder), Capsules (modern), Sachets (modern)

**Standard Dosage:** 1-3 g twice daily with honey or warm water, as per AFI

**Bioavailability:** Volatile oils ([cinnamaldehyde](/glossary/compounds-c-d/#cinnamaldehyde), 1,8-[cineole](/glossary/compounds-c-d/#cineole)) are rapidly absorbed through GI mucosa. Aromatic compounds enhance gastric motility and improve absorption of co-administered formulations. Acts as a bioavailability enhancer when used as adjuvant.

**Optimal Timing:** After meals as digestive adjuvant, or mixed into [Rasayana](/reference/rasayana/) formulations

**Shelf Life:** 2 years from date of manufacture as per ASU guidelines for Churna preparations

**Storage:** Store in airtight containers in a cool, dry place. Volatile oils dissipate if exposed to air. Double-sealed packaging recommended. Temperature not exceeding 25°C.

**Marker Compounds:** Cinnamaldehyde, 1,8-Cineole, [Eugenol](/glossary/compounds-d-g/#eugenol) (from Tejpatra), Alpha-terpineol, Mesuaferrone A (from [Nagakesara](/herb/nagakesara/))
