# Neti Pot Nasal Irrigation Vessel

> Neti Pot Nasal Irrigation Vessel (Sanskrit: Jala Neti Patra) is an instrument used in nasal and oral devices. A small spouted vessel resembling a teapot, used to pour warm saline water through one nostril and out the other, cleansing the nasal passages. Part of Shatkarma (six purification actions) in Hatha Yoga and Dinacharya (daily routine) in Ayurveda.

## Where is it described in the classical texts?

Hatha Yoga Pradipika (Chapter 2, Shatkarma section); Gheranda Samhita; Charaka Samhita references nasal cleansing as part of Dinacharya. First introduced to Western medicine via The Lancet in 1902.

## How is it used traditionally?

Nasal congestion, sinusitis, allergies, post-nasal drip, improving breathing and Pranayama practice. Removes pollen, dust, germs, and excess mucus from nasal passages.

- **Eu Mdr:** May be classified as Class I medical device if marketed with therapeutic claims under EU MDR 2017/745.
