Sushruta Samhita Uttara Tantra (Shalakya Tantra - ophthalmology section); Ashtanga Hridaya Uttarasthana Chapter 16. Netra Tarpana is one of the Kriyakalpas (ophthalmic procedures) of Shalakya Tantra.

## How is it used traditionally?

Eye rejuvenation, dry eyes, eye strain (computer vision syndrome), early cataracts, refractive errors, optic nerve nourishment, and prevention of eye diseases. Medicated ghee ([Triphala](/herb/triphala/) [Ghrita](/herb/ghrita/), Mahatriphala [Ghrita](/herb/ghrita/)|Mahatriphala Ghrita) is used.
