> Copper Water Tumbler Copper Vessel (Sanskrit: Tamra Jal Patra / Tamra Patra) is an instrument used in therapeutic vessels. A tumbler or vessel made of pure copper (Tamra) in which water is stored overnight and consumed in the morning (Ushapana). The copper imparts trace elements and oligodynamic antimicrobial properties to the water.

## Where is it described in the classical texts?

Charaka Samhita Sutrasthana Chapter 27 (Annapanavidhi Adhyaya) discusses properties of water stored in different vessels. Sushruta Samhita and Ashtanga Hridaya reference Tamra as Tridosha-balancing. Rasaratna Samuchaya describes copper's medicinal properties.
